raining afternoon in sydney

Still raining in Sydney.
Sitting here with Joaquin doing drawings with sea animals and blue cellaphone paper which is the sea.

Zalia is too big for her moses, she has to go to sleep in the cot. I wonder how I will feel, I cried when Joaquin graduated from the moses to the cot aged 3 months and then to his single bed aged 2 after we came back from our trip to Cape York last year.

new booties and us

My mother made some new woollen booties for Zalia. They are so soft and gorgeous, gotta learn how to knit!
Days are starting to get longer, I have been feeling a little down and out with so much on my plate and a few personal things. Hopefully all will be clearer next week.

Zalia is 3 months (13 weeks)

Three months have gone fast very quickly. I can not believe it, but it has been relatively easy apart from the mastitis. Joaquin has been a wonderful big brother and loves his sister so much, always kissing her so much.
She is very bright and alert, does not cry much. Does not sleep too much during the day a few hours here and there. Does sleep ok at night and lately has been in a routine where Jas baths her at around 8pm, and then i feed her and put her in her moses to sleep. She is still in her moses near my bed but we also have her cot ready in the room. She usually is asleep by 9.30pm and the last few night has been waking up at 3.30 or 4am so sleeping a lot (more than other nights). However last night she woke up at 1 for a feed and did not go back to sleep till 3am, she was upset and I had a bad headache. She may have a small cold as we all have a cold or flu.
In terms of milestones, she smiles now and then but is still very serious. She follows everyone around with her eyes and is very alert. She used her hands to move the red rolling ball on the cot mobile which was amazing. Jas showed her how to do it and she did it straight away. She is very bright and placid.

I am feeling much stronger and fitter and have started walking.

Joaquin has started a new preschool and it is near the Randwick shops and he is doing very well, and I like it alot. The teachers are good, the atmosphere is nice, it is brand new and he has friends that go there already.

Trip to Manly

On Sunday we took the ferry to Manly, it was a nice winter sunny day. Jas went to Scone to pick up the cot so we (my parents, Joaquin, Zalia and I) took a bus into Circular Quay then a ferry trip into Manly. The ferry was very calm and it is not Zalia's first trip. I went to Bundeena when I was 40 weeks pregnant with her, and also to Cockatoo Island on a Ferry when she was 5 weeks old I think. She is 11 weeks old and a very good girl.
We walked around Manly, had a late lunch in front of the beach, I had a pumpkin and fetta salad, my mum and Joaquin the fish and chips and my dad a beef burger. Zalia was very good and slept all the time in the pram.
We walked back to the ferry station, shoped at Aldi and i bought a skim milk hot chocolate from Max Brenner. It was quite silky and yummy. I drank it and we all quickly got on the ferry back to Circular Quay. Joaquin and my parents had icecream cones on the ferry and Joaquin finished his ice cream for the first time in his life i think. He enjoyed it and had chocolate all over his face. The Sydney city lights are beautiful from the ferry . Joaquin was watching the bouys bounce on the water and their bright lights.
I miss Jas and hopefully we can all go to Manly together.

Friday it rains

Friday at home, the weather is dreadful, we all have colds and feel blue.
My mum made two cakes and is knitting another beanie. She has already knitted one blue and white beanie. I need to learn how to knit, I have so much to do, so much to learn and at times it is so hard to be a mother and to try to do so much.
Zalia is 11 weeks and has been slightly grumpy. She is either sick like Joaquin or teething? but so young, she has a little white spot on her front gum and it feels like a little tooth.
She is crying now, better pick her up and feed her.

Sunday yum-cha with the family

Had a beautiful day, yum cha at Bondi Junction, yummy prawn dumplings, soft shelled crab with chile, fried calamari, duck pancakes, fried noodles and mango pancakes with cream for desert. Zalia slept throughout the whole feast. Joaquin poor little one has had fever the last few days but he ate well today. He ate noodles and loved the prawn dumplings and the jasmine tea.

J and I talked a lot and it was the first time in a while we have been relaxed and had fun.
Afterwards we did some food shopping and bought Joaquin some lego and thomas dvds as he has been very good this weekend stuck at home and not feeling well.

Currently watching Masterchef (taped with myth tv) and Jas is reading Joaquin and getting him to bed. Zalia has had a little bath and I used Jurlique baby bath lotion smells like citrus and clean (a present from a friend). She loves her little baths and cries when they are finished. So hopefully she will stay sleeping and J and I can have something sweet to eat and watch a movie.
I think Zalia has not been feeling 100% she been falling asleep on me after her feed and then when i put her in her moses she wakes up. Cross my fingers she sleeps a few hours now.

Both Zalia and Joaquin at 10 weeks, they look similar brother and sister. I love them so much!

La familia

I saw this in A Cup of Joy, it caught my eye.

One fmily 30 years on
The arrow of time

“On June 17th* every year, my family goes through a private ritual: we photograph ourselves to stop, for a fleeting moment, the arrow of time passing by”
- Diego Goldberg, Buenos Aires, Argentina-

I can relate as they are from Buenos Aires, and I was born there.
I would like to do this with my little ones, but it is a bit too late with Joaquin who turned three.

I am happy today, it is Saturday, everyone is still asleep. Joaquin had fever last night and this morning and talks with a sweet voice when he is feverish, it breaks my heart. Zalia is still asleep i think, she has been such a good little baby. Make me want more.
I love being a mother.

My parents are still here visiting but have gone to the south coast for the weekend to visit their spanish friends. It is good as we will be by ourselves as a family for the first time in our home. Just the four of us. We will all have some crumpets, enjoy the sunny weekend and maybe watch Argentina vs Germany tonight for the world cup.
Vamos Argentina!
