33 weeks in Sydney

We are home. We spent the weekend in Scone, in the Hunter Valley , 3 1/2 hours north of Sydney. It was hot, Joaquin spent time in a little blue tarp pool playing with water and the hose. We had some yummy lunches and spent the afternoon inside with the airconditioner. The baby has been moving a lot but still in its place. I think the head is down. I am not as hungry as I was with Joaquin, I feel a lot of pressure on my tummy and hope it is growing as it should as I don't feel as big as I did with Joaquin.
Joaquin has been a very good little boy, still trying to toilet train him, but gets distracted playing with cousins. He loves playing with Sophie who is a week older than him and follows her and they get up to mischief. He plays with trains and with Jed the large 11month old puppy. He wanted to know where Nanny's cat Ozzie was, but she passed away a few weeks ago and was very old, over 18 years old. She was a good sweet lovely cat.
Joaquin played with lego and wanted to play with the lego train but only if he went to the toilet.
Jas was a little less stressed, having Monday off and was able to sleep in and relax. Joaquin went to bed after 10pm each night, Jas played WII tenis with his mother and she beat him.

Now it is lunch time on tuesday, I am having pumpernickle bread with hellmans mayo, cheese and cherry tomatos. I was not hungry last night when we got home at 9pm and ordered thai from the local thai restaurant. Joaquin ate thai even though we gave him pasta with chicken before leaving scone. He ate thai and had a choclate egg for a treat, and then milk. Jas read him a book in bed, he did not want to go to bed, he washed his teeth, got upset and then vomited his food, but then finally slept.

This is a great maternity series and so is this one, I wish I had taken more photos during this pregnancy. I am 33 weeks, my parents are coming from Argentina on Sunday. I wonder what that will be like. I wonder if we are going to have a boy or girl.
Before lunch we played with some paper, sissors and cut outs. Joaquin spilt blue glitter all over the carpet. I have vacuumed it out, but there are still some blue shiny bits.
We will have a sleep soon after lunch and then go to the park if the weather stays ok. Right now it is windy and a bit grey, but still warm outside and no rain.

Storage for toys

I am inspired by Jordan's from Oh Happy Day who has just had a gorgeous little boy called Roman, latest storage inspiration for her older little boy.

And this article which has such great inspirational ideas of Lisa Mahar's home in New York for a children's playroom.

For Joaquin I use a billy bookcase from Ikea and have bought a lot of plastic storage boxes such as Samla and Snalis

and woven baskets to store his toys.
I try to put similar toys together in the boxes: Like all the Schleich dinosaurs Apatosaurus, Brachisaurus (which I call sometimes Argentinosaurus), Stegosaurus, Velociraptor (since I am such a dinosaur fiend)
and all cars and vehicles in another box. I still have trouble storing his large puzzle boxes.
Its very similar to what Jordan did for her little boy for his toys.

craving sweet food

Did not sleep from 2.30 until 5.30 am.
Was thinking about food, and was craving macarons. Even though I have never had them I think.
I ended up searching through Aussie blogs to find out where to get macrons in Sydney.

I ended up at this blog chocolatesuz and found out about these different macaron options in Sydney.
1) Adriano Zumbo macarons
2) Lindt macarons
3)Also someone mentioned that "the best macarons in Sydney are at the new Belle Fleur chocolate shop on Parramatta Road in Petersham – you park in Palace St."
4) and "The Renaissance a french patisserie in the Rocks and they have THE BEST MACARONS ever tasted !!! Even better than the one from Pierre Herme in Paris."

Prehaps I have to venture and check these places out.
So in the end I had a cup filled with muslie and skim milk at 4.30am in the morning to help my cravings.

I also like Paris Breakfast blog and her obsession with macarons from a store called Laduree in Paris.
One day I would like to go to Paris.

Anyway I think I will settle for something completely different and may go to a really good restaurant in Sydney for my birthday.

Spent all morning in the park with Joaquin and other children. He has a lot of fun playing in the playground, sandpit, on the swing, with his thomas trains and moving water around in old coffee cups from the water fountain to the sandpit. He knows all the names of his thomas trains, he also knows that when I am having a baby my waters need to break first. I mentioned this to him after having a dream where I thought my waters broke, and he over heard me saying this to Jas and now is asking me... "Is the baby coming, have your waters broke" He is not even 3.

Anyway today was a beautiful day and we were at the park from just before 10am to 1pm. Then we walked home, I made some lunch for me and had a snooze with Joaquin.
In the afternoon, I settled for making some vanilla cupcakes for Joaquin and I. I just devoured one and half cupcakes, not that nice though but hits the sweet spot.

32 weeks pregnant and nesting

I am 32 and a bit weeks pregnant, and feeling big and tired.

I think it is due to the humid weather we have been having in Sydney and other parts of Australia. It has rained a lot and lakes and rivers and dams are very full of water.
On the weekend we went to Centennial Park and the lakes were very full, and there was ducks and the odd eel. The rain is good for a country like Australia.
There is a baby boom going on here in Sydney, in the eastern suburbs. Here in my building there are 7 units, and out of the 7, three units are pregnant and my next door neighbour had a baby last week. SO two weeks ago there were 4/7 units with pregnant women at the same time. I find that very funny and weird.

I feel good in a sense because we hired some cleaners to clean our apartment as it was getting a bit hard for me, and i feel frustrated with my nesting. They did a great job and cleaned all the windows and the glass doors and dusted so well. It makes everything feel so fresh and new, and lovely. Why do small superficial things like this matter so much? Here in Sydney it seems many mothers have cleaners. It is a bit expensive but worth it. At least our house will be fresh and clean when my parents come. I still have to clean my clothes cupboard and drawers and give away unwanted clothes, clean the pantry and throw out unwanted things etc. I have to buy some non-disposable nappies.

I may order these Baby Behinds all in ones. I still need to do a bit more research.
a) How many do I need (for a new born and then later)?
b) Do i buy some new born ones and then some larger ones?
c) with velcro tabs or snaps?
d) as i do not know the sex of the baby what colours do i get?
e) How do I clean them?
Magic all in ones with snaps

All in ones with velcro

In other news I have a paleontology paper practically accepted in a journal which is great news and still have to finish another before baby is born.
My parents are coming to Australia in 2 weeks time so that will be great. Just don't know if our apartment will be big enough with 4 adults, a 2 year old and a baby on the way.

at home on a tuesday

Feeling very tired But managed to make some:

Banana, strawberry and bran muffins

A salmon, zucchini, feta and boccacini pie (photo to come)

A cardboard teddy with glitter (face by Joaquin 2 and 1/2)

A cardboard train with glitter

I feel bad when i do not take Joaquin out or to the park on the days I am at home with him. But have had a very stressful emotional weekend, with a lot of work sitting in front of the computer trying to finish a deadline that in the end I am not going to apply for. Baby moves a lot, I am 30 weeks pregnant and feel so big!

26 more sleeps until my parents come from Patagonia!
